A sound engineering school founded in Montreal in 1987 by Gilles Valiquette, a well-known musician and singer-songwriter. A visionary, he was convinced that technology (particularly the computer) would become the centerpiece of audio production and the music industry. This led him to create the first diploma recognized by the French Ministry of Higher Education entirely dedicated to computer-aided sound design, long before anyone knew what an Mp3 or even the Internet was.

Unica College was born out of a desire to offer local and international communities access to cutting-edge training while meeting important human resources needs in exciting fields. Our main program, the A.E.C. in Sound Recording and Design, is recognized as an international benchmark in the field.

Unica College is founded on the same pioneering and effective vision that has kept our institution at the forefront of the industry for over 35 years.

In addition to our core program, we are currently developing workshops on immersive audio engineering and music production, including Dolby Atmos, the new industry standard.
