Musitechnic is proud of it’s ongoing partnership with le Divan Orange show bar. During the course of the Levée de son campaign, the school donated money so Divan Orange could buy a state of the art sound system by DB Technologies. In return le Divan Orange encourages the apprentice technicians from Musitechnic to put into practice those concepts regarding Live sound that they have learned over the course of their 12 month training, by sharing the mixing console tasks a couple times a month. In the spirit of supporting up and coming bands, on those nights the club will not charge the artists or promoters a fee for renting the room.
The Director General of the Divan Orange, Carolyne Normandin, sees the partnership as “the first in a series of initiatives to ensure the continued existence of the Divan Orange and to allow it to continue playing its role in Montreal’s emerging music scene.”
The partnership also provides an opportunity for the students to record various shows and then do the mixes back at one of Musitechnic’s nine mixing studios. Le Divan Orange has also been hosting Musitechnic’s graduation ceremonies.
Musitechnic students have access to numerous extracurricular activities thanks to their many partnerships (Mtl International Percussion Fest, Pop Montréal, End of the Weak etc.). For Divan Orange the partnership fits right in with it’s mission to support tomorrow’s artists and those working in the cultural milieu.
